COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Classroom instruction on supervisory/officer considerations and tactics when responding to and managing critical incidents. The supervisor’s role in mitigating the risks to public safety, employees, and the liability to the organization will be explored in this course of instruction. Certificate of training issued upon completion of course. Training consists of 2 days (16 hours) of instruction that will include, but is not limited to the following topics.

  • Critical Incident types, scope, & tactics
  • Initial response considerations (4 C’s)
  • Site identification & reporting
  • First responder REACT Team
  • Use of force options and tactics
  • Incident transition to Tactical Team
  • Supervisor’s role in OIS
  • Practical exercises
  • Incident reviews

STUDENT EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • LE credentials/ID
  • Pen and note taking material
  • Laptop computer recommended (a PDF will be provided to attendees prior to class start – no printed course manual is handed out, all course documents are on provided thumb drive.

INSTRUCTOR BIO:

Wayne DuBois-– A police sergeant with more than 21 years of law enforcement experience and active SWAT team member for 20 years. During his career, Wayne has responded to and/or supervised hundreds of critical incidents, including several hundred barricaded suspects, armed suicidal subjects, and hostage situations. Prior to law enforcement, Wayne served 4 years on active duty as a ground surveillance systems operator in the U.S. Army, including deployment to Southwest Asia for 6 months during Operation Desert Shield/Storm. Currently he is a Patrol Sergeant at his agency and Team Leader for his large regional SWAT Team (2005 to present). Named SWAT Officer of the Year and Police Officer of the Year by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. Wayne serves as a Western Region Director for the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) and instructs in the NTOA’s Command Cadre. He is a certified instructor in multiple disciplines and has had two published articles on SWAT procedures and operations in a national publication, “The Tactical Edge.” Wayne holds a M.A. in Executive Leadership from Liberty University.
