OVERVIEW

Evolution of the SWAT/CNT process & the LAPD model, critical elements of CNT and active listening skills, confidence in negotiating skills, situations simulations, psychologist’s role during the negotiation process, CNT case studies, verbal strategies for different scenarios, breakout CNT “role playing” sessions, psychological principles of crisis negotiations, active listening skills and classroom exercise, SWAT concepts and introduction of the Tactical Operations Center (TOC), third party intermediaries, case study, BSSS considerations, psychological issues for returning veterans, implications for negotiations, do’s and don’ts of negotiations, role playing session and CNT test/debrief/evaluations and closing remarks.
