NEWS AND EVENTS
The Washington State Tactical Officer’s Association is deeply saddened by the tragic and senseless murder of Lakewood Police Officers Mark Renninger, Tina Griswold, Ronald Owens and Greg Richards.

Sergeant Mark Renninger was an executive board member and instructor for WSTOA. Mark directly trained hundreds of tactical officers from Washington, Idaho, Oregon and British Columbia. Their tactical proficiency and greater safety are directly linked to Mark’s gift as a trainer. We will miss our colleague and friend.

This brutal and cowardly attack by a career criminal at the brave protectors of our society reminds us all of the courageous nature of our State’s peace officers and the necessary daily vigilance of these brave men and women. Please keep the families of these fallen heroes in your prayers.

TRAINING BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Training and communication remain the key missions of WSTOA. Training sessions are held quarterly each year and are provided at no or reduced cost to members. Tactics, incident critiques, and advanced methodology are the most common topics. Each quarter, training is hosted by a member agency, with the Association providing assistance with logistics and instructors (if needed.) All training sessions stress professionalism and proper implementation of tactics. In addition, WSTOA coordinates the Basic SWAT school provided by the Criminal Justice Training Commission.

The Washington State Tactical Officers Association is governed by an Executive Board consisting of President, Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer, Sergeant at Arms, and seven District Representatives. Washington is divided into six geographical regions, each with a representative. A seventh member sits on the board to represent those whose agencies are outside the state. The Washing State Criminal Justice Training Commission and the Washington State Sheriff's and Police Chief's Association also have appointed members to the board.
